Christmas Letter 2013

Dear family & friends,

This year was chalked full of ‘fun’ surprises, of both the good and bad kind. 2013 kicked off with Rebecca rolling our car into a ditch and writing it off. We praise God for keeping both Annabelle and Rebecca safe during this accident and that they were able to walk away from the scene without a scratch…unlike our car! We had been contemplating whether we should buy a new car or not, so this was a great excuse to buy our first brand new car, a Toyota Corolla, of course!

In February, we discovered that we were expecting! Although Rebecca didn’t have to deal with morning sickness, this pregnancy came along with plenty of other complications…most significantly, a high risk for Down’s Syndrome, 1 in 7. After months of further testing the risk was lowered so greatly that there was no longer a DS risk at all.
Mitch and Rebecca enjoyed a fabulous getaway to Cuba with Rebecca’s parents, sister, and brother-in-law in March, while Anna enjoyed a week of being spoiled at Nana Kathy’s. We enjoyed resort life, swam with Dolphins, went snorkeling, and enjoyed watching Dad compete in various competitions!  He came out with 3 victories!

On April 28th, Mitchell’s sister Olivia and her husband Joe welcomed their first child, Sawyer. This gave us all new titles-uncle, aunt, and cousin!

We are beyond thrilled to report that Mitchell (FINALLY) completed and successfully defended his thesis in July and will be convocating in May of 2014.

This past year, Rebecca enjoyed several days of substitute teaching. Most of which were at our community school of 35 students grades P-6. She was even blessed to get enough hours to qualify for maternity leave, a luxury we didn’t have after Anna was born.

This December, Mitchell will finish his job at Snow Island Salmon as the company harvests all the fish and attempts to find new sites. Please pray for Mitch (and our family) as he searches for, and transitions into, a new job.
We’ve saved the best news for last! On October, 18th, 2013 Eleanor “Nora” Kathleen was born at 4:52 am weighing 5lbs 12ozs in Truro, NS. At 37 weeks 5 days, Rebecca was admitted to the hospital with some complications, including very high blood pressure and was supposed to be induced at 8am on the 18th, but little Nora decided to surprise everyone and come on her own after a very fast 1 hour natural labour and delivery.

We wish you nothing but a joyous Christmas season & the very best of new years!

Love,

The Moore Family
